A sweet, co-authored meet-cute that takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions from some amazing heart-breaker writers What If It’s Us is sure to leave you wanting more–and crying just a lot a bit.
Arthur is only in New York for the summer, but if Broadway has taught him anything, it’s that the universe can deliver a showstopping romance when you least expect it.
Ben thinks the universe needs to mind its business. If the universe had his back, he wouldn’t be on his way to the post office carrying a box of his ex-boyfriend’s things.
But when Arthur and Ben meet-cute at the post office, what exactly does the universe have in store for them?
Maybe nothing. After all, they get separated.
Maybe everything. After all, they get reunited.
But what if they can’t quite nail a first date . . . or a second first date . . . or a third?
What if Arthur tries too hard to make it work . . . and Ben doesn’t try hard enough?
What if life really isn’t like a Broadway play?
But what if it is?
You know me; I’m not a fan of contemporary. But I loved Adam Silvera’s They Both Die in the End with all my heart and I also saw (and cried during) Love, Simon so I figured if these two powerhouse writers were going to team up to write a queer love story, it was bound to break my heart.
And it did.
It took me a while to get into the book, to be honest. I’m so used to fantasy stories that anything contemporary just feels like I’m waiting for something extraordinary to happen.
But the book was a fun romp through these two boys’ lives and getting to explore their relationship with each other and their friends was a ton of fun. Not the total heart-breaker I thought it would be, but enough that I did tear up near the end.
